Texture in Photography

Textures

This is the first texture photo by Blayne Nightpaw. The snow here resembles the texture in this picture.

I love this picture by Yassine Hakimi of the textures of the tree trunk.

Multiple Patterns

This picture by Ron Bigelow is very unique because it has so many different textures on it such as the petals themselves, the water on the petals, and the center of the flower.

Elephant

This picture by Colby Johnson is my favorite texture photo because the texture of this photo is so bold on the elephant.

Composition in Photography

Vertical Lines

This is an example of "vertical lines" in photography. The trees resemble the vertical to the picture.

Horizontal Lines

In my opinion, this picture is a great example of a horizontal lines photo because we are essentially looking at the horizon.

Curved Lines

I thought that this picture was a great "curved line" photograph. The railroad tracks are the main subject, which are curvy, and the person walking is the secondary subject.

Zig Zag Lines

The beams on this building make this photo a very cool "zig zag line" picture.

Cold

For this assignment, I shot some photos of "Cold." In my mind, cold is things such as ice, snow, winter, and even the fridge! Here are three of my cold pictures.

I thought that this picture was very interesting. I put some ice in a glass and took a picture of it to create my first "cold" picture.

For this picture, cold really stuck out because it was snowing at this particular time. The snowflakes were so huge that I couldn't help but to take a picture of it!!

I took this picture on the same day as the previous photo, when the snowflakes were even bigger!

Favorites from around the web-2012

Operatic Nemo

This is one of my favorite's from Suzy Walker's album of underwater creatures. I chose this photo as a favorite because I was immediately drawn to the mouth of the clown fish. The anename really adds to the photo of being the secondary subject, while the fish is the primary subject in the photograph.

The Tribute in Light

Alex Filatov drew my attention to this photo because of how well the lighting is in the picture. I really like how all of the buildings are lit, and the sunset in the background also adds to the lighting of this picture.

Cypress Trees

This photo drew my attention because it was black and white, is sharp, and has so many little details to it. I enjoy taking pictures of water as well as nature, so this picture is a favorite of mine by Ed Rosack.

Dawn of a New Day

I love this picture by David Richter because it has so many different ways of interpreting the photograph. I like how colorful it is as well as the little boat that is sitting in the water.

Rising Tide

Here I chose another water photo, this time from Richard Murphy. I think that this picture is a great wave example of the water hitting the rocks.

Wide Angle Playtime

This photo by Lisa Hale fascinates me because of the shell placement into the sun. The sand in the picture also adds some depth to the photo.

Water Dragon Sunrise

This is a picture taken by Ed Rosack of a gorgeous sunrise.

One Big Mother

Here is a picture taken by John Christopher of a mother and baby elephant.

Empire Bluff North Star

This amazing photograph is by Ken Snyder.

Gary Piazza took this photo of a carriage type thing covered in ice.

Open Theme #1

Krista

Here I have a photo of my sister, Krista. She's pretty photogenic and is always taking pictures of herself as well.

Mexican Vases

I love taking pictures of random things in my house. This is a set of three Mexican vases and I thought it might be cool to put these together to make a little still life photo.

My Dad

This is a picture that I caught of my dad while he was watching TV and when I was trying out my new camera. I put the camera setting to black and white for this photograph.

Our Piano

This is another example of what I like taking pictures of a lot. I take photos of the piano from different angles, and this one I took from the very top of the keys.

Kookie

This last picture is a picture of our dog, Kookie. She is 7 years old, and a little chubby, as you can see. In order for her to look straight at the camera, I was holding a treat while I took the picture! I take photos of her all the time.

Sample Post

My sister is a little crazy...OK, really crazy. Here she is...
